In-House Accredited Screening & Diagnostic Mammography

Milledgeville OB/GYN Associates offers state-of-the-art 3D mammography in our office. 3D mammography is a revolutionary new screening and diagnostic tool designed for early breast cancer detection. During the 3D part of the exam, the X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over your breast, taking multiple breast images. Then, a computer produces a 3D image of your breast tissue in one-millimeter slices, providing greater visibility for the radiologist to see breast detail in a way never before possible.

By looking at the breast tissue in one-millimeter slices, the radiologist can provide a more confident assessment. In this way, 3D mammography finds cancers missed with conventional 2D mammography. It also means there is less chance your doctor will call you back for a “second look,” because now they can see breast tissue more clearly. 3D mammography is provided in our office by ONsite Mammography, LLC, the nation’s leading provider of mammography services to the patients of premier OBGYN practices.

Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Program

Milledgeville OB/GYN Associates provides a comprehensive Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Program (“RAP”) in addition to in-office screening 3D mammography. The risk assessment uses a woman’s personal medical and reproductive history and the history of breast cancer among her first-degree relatives (mother, father, sisters, daughters) to calculate whether she may be more likely than average to develop breast cancer. All women are eligible to have the breast cancer risk assessment performed. The patient and her doctor can use the results from a breast cancer risk assessment to determine if she has an increased risk of breast cancer and perhaps would benefit from counseling and/or genetic testing.

An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. An ultrasound allows your provider to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues without needing to make an incision. Unlike other imaging techniques, ultrasound uses no radiation. Our office has state-of-the-art equipment to offer ultrasounds performed by a certified technician for both obstetric care and gynecologic problems.
